Description.Abstract
Abstract: Nowadays, ultra-fast and all-optical processes are required in the highcapacity optical networks to avoidoptoelectronics conversions. This dissertation mainlyconcerns about designs, characterizes and investigatesoptical logic gates, arithmetic elements devices such asoptical adder/substractor circuits using on nonlinearproperties of add/drop filter (ADF) and modified add/dropresonance ring (MARR) systems. Firstly, we find thesuitable parameter of the ADF and MARR to composed opticalhalf and adder/substractor circuits such as intensitycoupling coefficients K₁=K₂ =K₃ = K₄ = 0.5, optical ringradius size are Rd = 20 µm , Rl= Rr =10µm with centerwavelength 1.550 μm by using the material of the waveguideis InGaAsP/InP. Simple structure and potential forintegration makes the proposed architecture an interestingapproach in optical computing and optical signalprocessing. To investigated optical adder/substractorcircuits. A simple designation of new scheme for opticaladder/substractor circuit employing by MARR devices underoptical tree architecture is proposed. Furthermore, byusing nonlinear effects in MAF system, different functionsof optical digital signal processing are realized. Inparticular the logic functions of optical half adder/substractor and full adder/substractor circuits aredemonstrated. The simulation results show that theproposed scheme improves overall system performance
